Self-Rescue Training - North Sea Nov 25

Here are the self-rescues I tried that day. Admittedly conditions were calm although the temperature hovered around freezing. Thankfully I was kitted out in Reed Chillcheater’s Transpire Fleeces and Paddle Suit - Toasty!

  • Eskimo Rolls-both sides:
  • Front deck - 100%
  • Back deck - dubious but recovered to front deck roll ok
  • Dry exit and re-entry over back deck - 100%
  • Wet Re-entry & Roll - 100%
  • Paddlefloat wet Re-entry and Roll - 100%
  • Paddlefloat outrigger re-entry - 100%
  • Split-spare paddle roll ie lose main paddle underwater and grab spare - 100% -Capsice and swim to shore through surf-break with swim-line deployed - 100%

Overall, happy with the outcome. Maybe I need to repeat in less calm conditions and at night?
